- Klarna must be enabled and activated as a payment method in Airwallex (Please ensure you do this before proceeding)
Installation Steps

- Click Install app
- Click Manage. You will be redirected to set up your Airwallex account before receiving payments
- Log in to your Airwallex account and select an account that you want to connect to your Shopify store, and click Connect. You will be redirected back to your Shopify settings after connecting. Note: Please ensure you have Klarna as a payment method enabled and activated for the account you are connecting to
- Ensure that customer contact is set to email only(This is as Klarna requires an email address for all transactions) This means that any transactions made with phone number only will fail
- You can do this from your Shopify Admin > Settings > Checkout
- Select Email only under Customer contact method
- Within your settings, you can check if the Klarna option is ticked so that the logo will be shown on your check-out page. Click Activate Airwallex and you are all set! (Please only activate after Klarna as a payment method has been activated on your linked Airwallex account)
You should now be able to see Klarna as a payment method on your store!
- To help more of your shoppers check out with Klarna, ensure you have currency switching turned on. You can check this from Airwallex > Payments > Settings
To help improve success rates, Klarna encourages merchants to pass first name for all transactions. To ensure shoppers enter the first name during checkout please go to Shopify Admin>Settings>Checkout>. Tick the option "Require first name and last name"
In cases when first name is not provided, Klarna may use the last name as the first name.
Testing
- Enable test mode in Settings>Payments>Airwallex Klarna>Manage if you want to mock successful and failed transactions before going live.
- You can then go to your store and attempt to check out with Klarna. You will be able to see the following page after selecting Klarna as a payment method
- Mock the different statuses by clicking on the status that you wish to test. For the payment pending states, they will be pending before transitioning to "Success" or "Failure" after 10 minutes.
