Wise vs Revolut: Personal accounts

If you're an individual comparing Wise and Revolut for travel, overseas spending, or sending money to family abroad, here's how each one works in Singapore.

Wise personal account

The Wise personal account is free to open with no monthly subscription fee. You can hold and convert 40 currencies1, with local account details available in 22 currencies for receiving money from abroad.3

Wise uses the mid-market exchange rate and charges a variable conversion fee when you exchange currencies. You see the exchange rate and applicable fee before confirming a transaction.

Wise also offers Interest on eligible SGD, USD, GBP and EUR balances, allowing you to earn returns while keeping the money accessible for spending and transfers.

Revolut personal account

Revolut Singapore offers four personal plans, from the free Standard plan to paid Premium, Metal and Ultra plans. The main differences are the exchange allowance, overseas ATM allowance, card benefits and additional travel or lifestyle perks.

(For a deeper walkthrough of each Revolut plan, see our full Revolut Singapore review.)

Revolut uses its own exchange rate and applies additional fees in certain situations. The amount you can exchange without an additional fee depends on your plan. Higher-tier plans have larger or unlimited exchange allowances and may waive weekend exchange fees.

For personal users, the main difference is the pricing model: Wise charges a fee when you convert currencies, while Revolut combines currency exchange allowances with a tiered subscription model.

Your choice may therefore depend on how often you exchange currencies and whether you value Revolut's additional travel and lifestyle benefits.

Information in this section is based on Wise and Revolut’s official websites as of 1 Oct 2026.

Wise vs Revolut: Business accounts

Both providers offer dedicated business accounts for Singapore-registered companies. Here's how the two compare for cross-border payments, multi-currency holding, and team spend.

Wise Business

Wise Business is a single-tier product. You pay an optional one-time S$99 setup fee only if you’d like to unlock local account details in 22 currencies.3 There are no monthly fees.

You can hold 49 currencies and send money internationally with fees starting from 0.19%.

Wise Business also includes:

  • Physical and virtual debit cards for team members

  • Batch payments for paying multiple recipients at once

  • Accounting integrations for syncing transactions

  • Wise Interest, with returns on SGD, USD, GBP, and EUR balances

For a full breakdown of Wise Business features and limitations, see our Wise Business account review.

Revolut Business

Revolut Business gives Singapore companies a multi-currency account that lets you hold up to 30 currencies.5

There are four plans (Basic, Grow, Scale, and Enterprise) with different monthly fees, transfer allowances, and FX limits.

Beyond international transfers and currency exchange, Revolut Business includes:

  • Team cards: issue physical and virtual cards with spending controls

  • Spend management: set permissions, spending limits and approval rules

  • Bulk payments: pay up to 1,000 recipients across multiple currencies

  • Payment acceptance: accept online and in-person payments through Revolut's merchant tools

Which business account fits which need

Both accounts cover the basics: hold multiple currencies, send international transfers, and issue team cards. The main differences:

  • Wise Business charges per transaction with no monthly fee. If your transfer volume is unpredictable or you're early-stage, you only pay for what you use.

  • Revolut Business trades a monthly fee for bundled allowances. If you send transfers regularly and stay within plan limits, the cost can be lower than per-transaction pricing.

Information in this section is based on Wise and Revolut’s official websites as of 1 Oct 2026.

Wise vs Revolut: FX

The biggest difference is how currency conversion is priced.

Wise charges a variable fee on each conversion, while Revolut includes fee-free FX within the allowance of each plan. Revolut can also apply additional fees outside market hours or after the plan allowance is exceeded.

Wise vs Revolut: International transfers

Wise uses pay-per-use pricing for international transfers, while Revolut Business includes a set number of transfers within each plan. The actual cost can vary depending on the currencies, destination and transaction volume.

For businesses with higher transfer volumes, Wise also offers volume discounts, while Revolut’s higher-tier plans include larger transfer allowances.

Cards and overseas spending

Both Wise and Revolut offer debit cards linked to their multi-currency accounts for overseas spending. Both also support digital or virtual cards, while Revolut offers additional card options depending on the plan.

Wise card

Wise offers physical and digital debit cards for Personal and Business accounts. You can spend in 40+ currencies9, and if you don't hold the currency you're paying in, Wise automatically converts the amount from your available balance.

Revolut cards

Revolut offers physical and virtual cards for Personal accounts, with additional card options available on higher-tier plans. Business users can issue physical and virtual corporate cards to team members and set spending controls.

Transfer speed and country coverage

Transfer times vary depending on the currency, destination and payment route. Both Wise and Revolut show an estimated arrival time for individual transfers, while their overall country coverage differs.

Wise

Wise supports transfers to 140+ countries.4 Transfer speed varies by route and how you fund the transfer, with Wise currently reporting that 74% of transfers arrive in under 20 seconds and 95% in less than a day.

You can check the estimated arrival time for your specific transfer before sending.

Revolut

Revolut supports transfers to 150+ countries.7 Transfer times vary by route, and Revolut shows the estimated arrival time in the app before you send.

Wise vs Revolut: Which should you choose?

There's no universal answer to which one is better. The right pick depends on what you actually do with the account:

Pick Wise if you…

  • Want a multi-currency account with no monthly subscription or plan tiers

  • Mainly use your account for international transfers and overseas spending

  • Prefer pay-as-you-go pricing rather than a monthly plan with included allowances

  • Need local account details across multiple currencies to receive money from abroad

  • Want to avoid managing different FX allowances or plan limits

Pick Revolut if you…

  • Want a tiered account with additional features and benefits as you move to higher plans

  • Prefer having FX and transfer allowances bundled into your plan

  • Want additional travel, card and lifestyle benefits alongside your multi-currency account

  • Need team cards, spending controls and other business tools through Revolut Business

  • Prefer having the option to upgrade your plan as your requirements change

Why Singapore businesses choose Airwallex over Wise and Revolut

If your business needs more than a multi-currency account, Airwallex brings international transfers, payment acceptance and accounts payable into one platform. Here are three areas where it offers broader coverage or additional capabilities than Wise and Revolut:

Transfer via local rails with $0 transfer fees

94% of Airwallex transfers are routed via local rails with $0 transfer fees, helping you save on transfers.

In contrast, Wise does not publish a comparable local-rail transfer allowance. Revolut Business offers a limited number of free international transfers for higher-tiered plans; its Basic plan does not include any free international transfers.

Accept payments through more local methods

With Airwallex, you can accept payments through 160+ local payment methods across 180+ countries.

In contrast, Wise doesn't offer a payment gateway. Revolut Business does support payment acceptance, but doesn't publish a comparable figure for its country or payment method coverage.

Manage supplier invoices and payments

Airwallex Bill Pay lets businesses capture supplier invoices, manage vendor details and pay bills from the same platform. These features are available on the free Explore plan.

Wise Business does not publish an equivalent offering on its website. Revolut Business lets businesses manage bills and pay suppliers, but these features are only available on the paid plans.

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

Is Wise or Revolut cheaper in Singapore?

It depends on how you use the account. Wise uses pay-as-you-go pricing with no monthly subscription, while Revolut charges according to your plan and includes different allowances for transfers and foreign exchange. Revolut may work out cheaper when your usage stays within those allowances, while Wise may suit businesses and individuals who prefer paying per transaction rather than subscribing to a plan.

Are Wise and Revolut safe to use in Singapore?

Both Wise and Revolut are regulated by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) and are required to safeguard customer funds. Wise says customer funds are held separately from its own funds, while Revolut says customer funds are held in segregated safeguarding accounts with local banks.

Can I use Wise or Revolut to pay CPF or GIRO in Singapore?

Neither Wise nor Revolut should be treated as a replacement for a traditional Singapore business bank account for all local payment needs. Revolut currently does not support GIRO salary payments, while Wise Business can receive certain GIRO and MEPS payments. For CPF contributions and other statutory payments, check the provider's current supported payment methods before relying on either account.

Which has better exchange rates, Wise or Revolut?

Wise uses the mid-market exchange rate and charges a separate conversion fee, which varies by currency and transaction. Revolut uses its own exchange-rate pricing with fee-free FX allowances that vary by plan, with additional fees applying when you exceed the allowance or exchange outside market hours. The actual cost depends on the currency, amount and account plan you're using.

Does Wise or Revolut offer a payment gateway in Singapore?

Revolut Business offers payment acceptance in Singapore, including its Payment Gateway, Payment Links, Revolut Pay and in-person payment options. Wise Business also has a card-payment feature available to eligible existing customers in Singapore, although Wise says the feature is currently unavailable to new Wise Business customers.

Which is better for business in Singapore, Wise or Revolut?

It depends on what your business needs. Wise Business focuses on multi-currency accounts, international transfers, local account details and business cards, with pay-as-you-go pricing. Revolut Business offers tiered plans that bundle transfer and FX allowances with additional business, spending and payment-acceptance features. If you also need tools such as a payment gateway, Bill Pay and international payments in one platform, Airwallex is another option to compare.
